Products

Some challenges need a tool, not another report.

We build products out of research, practical experience and experimentation, when what has been learned needs to stay in people’s hands after the work that produced it has ended.

Some work ends in evidence. Some ends in a tool.

Products start with challenges worth solving

We begin with the challenge and the need behind it, the people who experience it, and the conditions in which the product will have to work — including access, connectivity, cost, skills, maintenance, staff turnover and many others. Products may be digital, physical, educational or hybrid, depending on what the work requires.

We test before we build

An idea is tested before it is developed further. Testing tells us whether the need is real, whether the proposed response fits, whether people will use it, and whether it can be sustained. Development continues only when the evidence supports it.

Not everything should be a product

Sometimes a method others can follow, or a change in how a decision is made, will travel further and cost less to sustain than a new tool. We build when a challenge recurs and people genuinely need something they can use directly. Otherwise, creating a product may simply create another thing to maintain.
